Design Challenge:
Design a tablet app (Android, Fire, iPad, etc) to provide a safe way for high school students (ages 13+) to #DiscoverDesign.
Objective:
This app should encourage students to:
- Discover what design is and how they interact with
it every day
- Help them see the impact of good or bad design
- Encourage them to explore jobs/careers in design
- Inspire them to start their own career in design
Abstract:
Designpathy is a game app that introduces design thinking concepts to users who want to learn more about design.
Users can discover design with fun, quick games on their tablet.
Designpathy includes visual games that develop design empathy skills by introducing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and building familiarity with universal icons.
Methodology:
To better understand the user needs and motivation in a short amount of time, we created a survey.
Of the 52 people who responded to the survey, about 49% of participants were between the ages of 13-17.
One question in the survey was, "How would you like to learn more about design?"
While the top 3 responses were Google, Social Media, and People, participants between ages 13-17 responded that they would like to learn more through games.
Therefore, based on the survey response, Designpathy was created.
